Flowers and Fellowship
This committee has been in existence for 4 years.
I think it was the idea of Tonya Young.
The current chairpersons are Rebecca Fager and Frances Locati.
Year 1 visits were made to Manor Care South, Normandy Ridge and Colonial Manor.
Year 2 visits were made to Normandy Ridge, Senior Commons of Powder Mill and Lutheran Village.
Year 3 visits were made to Providence Place Senior Living, Broadmore Senior Center Living and Country Meadows Leader Heights.
Year 4 visit has been made to Autumn House West.
We visit 3 nursing homes a year and help 15-20 residents make flower arrangements for their rooms or for friends.
We take all supplies including flowers, greens, vases, clippers and ribbons.
Frances contacts activity directors to determine a time that suits for our visit.
We buy the flowers from Sam’s Club the day before we need them.
We collect vases from Garden Club of York members and yard sales and Dollar Stores.
We usually have 5-7 garden club members who help each time.
We help residents as much as they need.
We try to provide a fun experience and conversation for the residents we visit.
We carry arrangements to their rooms when necessary
