$1000 Scholarships Available
The Garden Club of York understands the importance of education in promoting gardening and related topics to the next generation—over the past 20 years we have given approximately $60,000 in scholarships to York County students. This year we will award 2 or more $1000 scholarships. These scholarships are made possible through fundraising activities and donations by individuals who support the goals and objectives of the Garden Club of York. Donations are always welcome. Scholarships for academic year 2020-21 will be awarded to qualified students in the following areas:
Biology (excluding Pre-Med) Plant Pathology
Horticulture Environmental Sciences
Landscape Architecture Land Management
Conservation Wildlife Sciences
Forestry Urban/Rural Planning
Our scholarships are open to both high school seniors and college students who are York County residents. The scholarships are awarded on the basis of academic standing, extracurricular activities, applicant’s letter and financial need. Extra points are awarded to those applicants who are related to a federated garden club member. Download the application below. Applications must be received no later than February 15, 2021. For scholarship related questions, contact scholarship chair Linda Hanson at email@example.com.
Many students who are eligible for Garden Club of York scholarships are also eligible for $1000 scholarships through the Garden Club Federation of Pennsylvania (GCFP). Some of our scholarship winners have also won GCFP scholarships. Deadline for GCFP scholarship applications is February 1, 2021. To access the GCFP website, go to www.pagardenclubs.org.
