Our Purpose
To stimulate and develop the spirit of gardening.
To encourage interest in decorative flower and plant arrangement.
To promote interest in home and civic gardening.
To aid in the protection of native plant and bird life.
THE GARDEN CLUB OF YORK was organized in 1922 and Federated in 1930.
We are a friendly, active group of civic-minded gardeners in York County, Pennsylvania, USA.
We work together to beautify our city and raise funds to support our efforts. We focus on Conservation, Education, Beautification, Horticulture and Floral Design. Our Membership is open to all who love any aspect of gardening! We have several committees that provide opportunities for our members to get involved! We truly have something for everyone!
As a member you will enjoy well-known and respected speakers on a wide variety of topics during our monthly membership meetings. We have learned about bats, vegetable gardening, seeds, succulents, horticulture therapy, antique tools, trees, miniature gardens and floral design, just to name a few. You will have the opportunity to participate in Landscape Design School, Gardening School, Environmental School and Flower Show School courses offered through National Garden Clubs Inc. We offer workshops on Flower Pressing, Floral Design, Container Gardening and Garden Crafts.
You will have the opportunity to join in fundraising projects to benefit our scholarship funds and other worthwhile projects.
Our Holiday Luncheon is a fundraising event like no other. You and your guests are invited to this special occasion at the Country Club of York. In the spring of each year we celebrate our members and scholarship recipients at our annual Spring Luncheon.
We visit botanical gardens, garden centers, estates, wineries, native gardens, our members gardens, and we have even visited the White House at Christmas. We enjoy lunch together, laugh together, share plants and advice.
The Garden Club of York is a part of the Federated Garden Club of Pennsylvania, a charitable non-profit organization under IRS 501(c)3. Donations to support our York projects and scholarships qualify as federal tax deductions.
